On the evening of March 17, 2017, Bhisham Soondarsingh, TTCA 1st VP, Sandy Razark, TTCA Secretary and I attended the First Citizens Sports Foundation Awards Ceremony at Queen’s Hall in St. Anns. The ceremony was again a memorable one as well-deserved recognition was given to the nominees who have excelled in their respective sporting disciplines.
The show was televised and covered via several media stations.
I am thrilled to report that once again the Trinidad and Tobago Chess Association took home the prestigious Jeffrey Stollmeyer Award (Small category) for top sporting organisation-small for 2016. The occasion was even more significant knowing that we were able to retain this honour for a successive year.
This award is testimony to the hard work of the various members of the TTCA Executive team and the collective efforts by several members of the community that contribute to the TTCA’s pursuit of developing chess throughout Trinidad and Tobago in a responsible and inclusive manner.
I am proud to be a part of this organisation and encourage all members to continue working with us as we strive to leave a positive and meaningful mark on society through the sport of chess.
