The Trinidad & Tobago Chess Association (TTCA) is the official body for chess in Trinidad & Tobago. We are so recognised by the Ministry of Sports, by the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee and by the World Chess Body, the FIDE.<\/p>\n
We have been in existence since 1936 and have made several strides since then. We have several international recognised masters including: 1 International Master, 8 FIDE Masters; 13 Candidate Masters, 3 Woman FIDE Masters, and 3 Women Candidate Masters. We have over 100 players with an internationally recognised ranking, of whom are active. This is the most among the English Speaking Caribbean.<\/p>\n
Vishnu Singh is our only International Master and our top ranked player is Ryan Harper, a FIDE Master. Ryan is also a well known coach and produces a chess magazine which is subscribed to around the Caribbean.<\/p>\n
Trinidad & Tobago also has International Arbiter in Mr. Russell Smith. He is also the General Secretary of FIDE America (the Chess Body for the Americas). We also have 2 FIDE Arbiters in Mr. Rawlson Paul and Trevor Flower.<\/p>\n
